Armenian RECP Stakeholders discuss opportunities for green growth in the country

On 28 June 2022, Armenia’s Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) Stakeholders Group convened in Yerevan to discuss the progress and further developments in the RECP activities which are implemented in the country since 2020. These activities are part of the Results 2 Component of the EU4Environment Action on “Circular Economy and New Growth Opportunities”, carried out by UNIDO in Armenia and the other Eastern Partner (EaP) countries.

As part of the welcoming remarks, Deputy Minister of the Environment, Ms. Gayane Gabrielyan, underlined the important role RECP activities play in supporting the Armenian business and industry sector, particularly the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

Notable topics for discussion were the monitoring results obtained from the RECP assessments of SMEs under a previous EU-funded programme (implemented between 2013-2017), EaP GREEN, the new RECP assessments of manufacturing companies, the institutionalization of RECP in Armenia, the launch of the Single Market for Green Products activities in the country, as well as the benefits of establishing RECP Clubs in two selected regions of Armenia. The RECP Clubs are regional clusters of enterprises that are introducing an RECP self-assessment once they complete peer-coaching information sessions.

The stakeholders’ meeting also focused on further promoting the RECP benefits in the country, on discussing the achievements and plans to continue the ongoing efforts, and on the means to use RECP as a stepping stone for introducing Circular Economy in Armenia.
