In Moldova, EU4Environment supports the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM), a non-profit organisation under the purview of Moldova’s Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure in greening SMEs and entrepreneurship development. Following a fact-finding mission to Chisinau in October 2019, the OECD – the EU4Environment Implementing Partner – provided inputs into the Moldovan Greening Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises, which was finalized in late November of that same year.
The OECD and ODIMM also agreed on the provision of direct support to help operationalise the Greening Programme, by developing an online tool for SMEs to assess their environmental performance and determine ways to enhance their efficiency. This work is extensively using experience and know-how from by the Clean Technology Centre of Ireland.
Once completed, the tool will help ODIMM identify SMEs that stand to benefit from more targeted financial supported. The OECD and UNIDO, another EU4Environment Implementing Partner, work with ODIMM also on identifying and mobilising Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production experts to support SMEs actions and coordinating further support to SME greening in Moldova.
