Green post-war reconstruction of Ukraine: vision and models

The event “Green post-war reconstruction of Ukraine: vision and models” took place online on 14 September 2022.

The main objective of this event was to discuss the concept and approaches to the green and sustainable post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

The event included a presentation of the policy brief “Green post-war reconstruction of Ukraine: vision and models”. The policy brief proposes a green vision for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, including different models for its practical implementation. It also features the analysis of the current approaches to the future post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, as outlined in the draft national recovery plan and relevant position papers by international partners, including the European Commission.

The second part of the event offered a place for discussion among various stakeholders regarding the future vision of Ukraine’s reconstruction: central authorities, international partners, local authorities and non-governmental stakeholders. The international partners, including governments and international organizations, were invited to comment on the following questions:

  • What instruments can be used by international partners to assist in green recovery?
  • In this context, what green issues seem to be a priority for international partners?
  • How can we measure the success of the recovery on the way to decarbonization?
  • Should there be any exemptions to funding “priority” projects, which do not contribute to (or harm) Ukraine’s sustainable and green development?

The event was organized with the support of the European Union within the framework of “Mainstreaming sustainable development in Ukraine in line with the European Green Deal” project implemented by a consortium of civil society organizations, including Resource & Analysis Center “Society and Environment”, under general coordination of civic organization DIXI GROUP.
