Kick-Off Meeting: Supporting Nature Restoration and Enhancing Community Benefits in the Republic of Moldova

The kick-off meeting with stakeholders on the launch of the new activity “Supporting Nature Restoration and Enhancing Community Benefits in the Republic of Moldova” will take place on July 8, 2025 (09:00-11:30, Chisinau time) in Forest Research and Management Institute Chișinău (ICAS).

Meeting objective

The meeting aims to present the objectives of the activity and foster the dialogue with stakeholders to gain a better understanding of their needs, perspectives, and potential contributions. Through these discussions, the consulting team will seek to identify stakeholder interests and concerns, enabling a refinement of the activity’s goals and expected outcomes. Particular emphasis will be placed on the engagement of Local Public Authorities (LPAs) at the community, district (rayon), and national levels to ensure alignment with existing policy frameworks and responsiveness to local priorities.

Participants

The meeting will gather representatives of the World Bank, the implementing consortium, the Ministry of Environment, Moldsilva, the Environmental Protection Agency, ICAS, NAAM, NGOs, State University of Moldova (Botanical Garden/Institute), State Technical University of Moldova, and representatives of LPAs.

Background

The meeting is organized under the EU4Environment Programme to launch the activity ‘Supporting Nature Restoration and Enhancing Community Benefits in the Republic of Moldova’. This activity aims to restore natural ecosystems, particularly forests and wetlands, while enhancing community benefits through participatory planning, GIS tools, local capacity building, and policy recommendations. The work is led by a consortium including Transilvania University of Brașov, Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, and the Forest Research and Management Institute Chișinău (ICAS).
