5th National High Level Round Table “Green Economy – Made in Moldova”

The 5th National High Level Round Table “Green Economy – Made in Moldova” was organised on 31 January 2020 in Chisinau.

The meeting objectives were to:

  • Reaffirm „Made in Moldova” as a platform for the promotion of Green Economy principles for local producers, partners and visitors of the exhibition;
  • Promote the Green Economy Concept at the highest political level, in all social-development sectors of the country, attracting the private sector, development partners, NGOs, media and the general public;
  • Present the contribution of EU4Environment to the implementation of the Green Economy principles, Environmental Strategy 2014-2023 and Program on the promotion of Green Economy in the Republic of Moldova for 2018-2020;
  • Increase awareness of stakeholders from businesses and enterprises, governmental agencies and the general public on the application and benefits of the Green Economy principles for sustainable economic development;
  • Receive suggestions from different actors, including business representatives, for policies or actions for possible integration into the Green Economy promotion process at national level.

Participants

The participants included representatives from governmental agencies, international organizations, embassies, businesses and enterprises / private sector, academic sector, environmental NGOs and experts, mass-media.

The speakers focused on green development in the country and considerable achievements that have been made already.  Mr Bruno POZZI, Director, UNEP ROE in his video message summarized the key results of the implementation of the EaP GREEN and indicated major priorities of EU4Environment, which will be implemented by UNEP: institutional capacity building, eco-innovations, eco-labelling, and sustainable public procurement.
The importance, added value and current state of implementation of the Program on Greening SMEs, approved by the Government of Moldova in November 2019 were broadly presented by Ms Iulia COSTIN, General Director, ODIMM.
