The start of 2020 brought an unprecedented global challenge: the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), classed by the WHO as a global pandemic. Despite this challenging period, activities envisaged under the EU4Environment Work plans have been implemented.
On 29 May 2020, the EU4Environment Implementing Partners, jointly with the Ministries of Environmental Protection and of Economy, European Commission and EU Delegation in Georgia, held a virtual consultation.
The objectives of the meeting were to:
- review the in-country situation in light of COVID-19;
- present progress with EU4Environment implementation in each EaP country;
- discuss plans for the rest of the year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic; and
- discuss options for organising the Regional Assembly meeting in the second half of 2020.
Participants included National Focal Points from the Ministries of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and of Economy and Sustainable Development, National Action Coordinators, representatives of the European Commission (DG NEAR, DG ENV and DG CLIMA), EU Delegation in Georgia and the Implementing Partners (OECD, UNEP, UNECE and UNIDO).
