Stakeholder and Public Engagement Meeting “Advancing the Establishment of the Emerald Network and Management of the Emerald Sites in Armenia” took place on 17 March 2023 at the Institute of Botany aft. A. Takhtajyan NAS RA.
Meeting objectives, expected outputs and outcomes:
- Description of the necessary steps for the establishment of the Emerald network
- Share information, knowledge and experiences about methods and approaches required for the effective establishment of the Emerald Network and sustainable management of Emerald sites.
- Raising awareness about the significance of the Emerald Network and sustainable management of Emerald sites.
Participants
The meeting gathered participants from different target groups including, governmental organizations, public bodies, academia, NGOs and intergovernmental organizations and other environmental organizations.
Background
A stakeholder and public engagement meeting is organized as part of the World Bank-led activities under EU4Environment Program sub-component 4.1: Support to protect biodiversity and natural ecosystems (Emerald network). Activities under this sub-component are aimed at advancing the establishment of the Emerald Network and management of the Emerald Sites in the Eastern Partner countries. In Armenia the activities include developing recommendations for National Emerald Action Plan to advance the establishment of the Emerald Network, developing methodological guidelines for preparing Emerald Site management plans, developing management plans for the selected Emerald sites and capacity building.
