March brings forth a series of important EU4Environment events related to green and sustainable production. Concretely, dedicated workshops will take place in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the Republic of Moldova to raise awareness on the introduction of the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology and the European Union Single Market for Green Product (SMGP) initiative. Separately, Georgian stakeholders interested in and working on issues related to the green economy, Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP), or related will have the opportunity to apply the PEF methodology to specific products, based on the interest of local industries, the capacity of national experts, and the available data to conduct specific types of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of certain products in the country.
For these events, EU4Environment invites representatives from national organizations, industrial enterprises, local authorities and agencies, business associations, and NGOs, as well as all stakeholders interested in or working on issues related to circular economy, RECP, and environmental protection. The events are organized by UNIDO in collaboration with PRé Sustainability and national partners, and will take place online or in a hybrid format (in English as well as national languages).
Moreover, the events will feature presentations and discussions by experts in the field and provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the concept of green or environmentally-friendly products. Topics related to instruments and strategies to promote green products in the current national contexts, including eco-labelling, as well as associated legislative background, and benefits for different target groups will also be presented. Additionally, the potential impact of applying the PEF methodology for enterprises exporting to the EU market will also be explored. Overall, these thematic events will provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions, learn more about SMGP and PEF in their country, and engage in topical discussions.
